We are already two weeks into the Advent season here at Grace, and I hope you have enjoyed reflecting on the themes of Hope and Peace. Last Sunday, Pastor Beth shared an excellent message on the annunciation. I keep remembering the three important lessons from that message: submit to God’s plan, live with an expectation of His presence, and be still and listen for His guidance. To me, this is an excellent prescription for peace.
As we continue our Advent journey, the scripture passages for Sunday are Isaiah 32:17 and Matthew 3:1-3. Have you ever wondered what John the Baptist meant when he declared “Prepare the way of the Lord”? Pastor Gary is preparing a message for Sunday entitled “Finding a place……” that will address the passage from Matthew’s gospel. I am sure this message will offer some new insights for us all. You don’t want to miss it!
Remember to plan ahead for our Christmas cantata, which takes place December 16th at 6pm and December 17th at 10am. There really is no reason not to invite your friends to this event. Share our church Facebook announcement on your Facebook page, and invite everyone to attend our “Rhaspody in Bluegrass.” Our music department is filled with talent to share with this community. They make worship fun!
Finally, friends, thank you for sharing your prayer requests each Sunday. Our prayer team receives these requests every week, and it helps us pastors to know how we can pray for you and get to know your circumstances in depth. Remember also that we have a team of Stephen Ministers available if you need a prayer partner or just a good listener for a season. Contact me or Pastor Beth or Betty Kennedy to get set up.
Thank you for the continuing opportunity to serve as one of your pastors for my ninth Christmas here at Grace! I look forward to seeing you Sunday!
