This coming Sunday, March 3, is Transfiguration Sunday on the church calendar. We will be taking a close look at Luke 9: 28-36, and the message is entitled “Mountaintop Visions and Valley Realities.” Jesus’ appearance changed on the mountain, and the encounter with Moses and Elijah seems to have brought joy to Peter and John and James. But the joy was short-lived, and they became terrified as a cloud overshadowed them. How quickly our perceptions change as we follow the path of discipleship! The road can be scary at times, but we never have to walk alone.
Please pray for me and for all of our worship team as we seek to express our love for Christ through music, word, sacrament and service. I will briefly address the results of our United Methodist General Conference, but please remember that our mission as a church remains “to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” Living out this mission is enough to keep us all busy!
Invite friends to worship this week, and pray that people meet Christ as a result of your invitation!
See you Sunday! Pastor Steve
