The Image of God

Dear Grace UMC Church Family,

What a powerful week this has been for me this past week.  As many of you know, I have been away on a Civil Rights Pilgrimage. We have traveled to Birmingham, Selma, and Atlanta.  I always say that “if we really believe that the image of God lives in all of us, then spending time with each other should be like Christmas!”  This past week has been like Christmas, learning what makes all the participants on this pilgrimage shineon the inside.  I learned as much from these beautiful humans as I did through the pilgrimage experience.

It has been like Christmas getting to know all of you as well.  Each person I meet with along the way is a thread to the fabric that makes up this place called Grace United Methodist Church.  What a gift it will be to bless anyone heading back to school and all those who play a part in our education system, in any way this Sunday in worship.  Please make every effort to be in worship!  Our preschool teachers will be with us on Sunday as well.

As the summer concludes and the school year begins, I will be learning the “Grace rhythm” of life together.  I saw a meme on social media that said, “It is Augtober, get your pumpkins out!”  I think this might resonate with all of you!  My hope is that we are all praying about the ways we can provide support in whatever way possible to the people who serve our children in our preschool and the public schools.  I pray that we pray how me might support the leaders who run the pumpkin patch.  I am looking forward to witnessing all of you connect this fall in sharing the love of God to each other and our surrounding community!

This week in worship we will be looking at Exodus 16:1-18.  The title of my sermon is, The Economics of Love.  Our God is so good, and God does indeed provide for us all.

This week’s questions:

1. What can you share with me in relation to the economics of Merritt Island?  Where are the places that need our investment as a community?  Where has Merritt Island prioritized growth?

2. What breaks your heart the way you believe it might break the heart of God about anything in our community or the world around us?

3. What excites you about ministry at Grace UMC?

As always, I am grateful to be…

With you on the journey,

Pastor Michelle
