During the next four Sundays, our messages at Grace will focus on the life of the early church as described in the book of Acts. After Jesus’ resurrection, there were many transforming events in the lives of communities and individuals. The Holy Spirit empowered the early disciples to perform miracles similar to the miracles of Jesus. Those disciples in the first century church encountered more challenges and obstacles than most of us will ever face, and yet their faithfulness and perseverance are models for us all.
What can we learn from the epic stories of faithfulness in Acts? The heroes in Acts, both known and behind-the-scenes, all were vigilant in listening for God’s calling, patient in their obedience, and persistent in their commitment to Christ.
I will take a close look at Ananias this Sunday. You can read about him in Acts 9: 10-20. We can learn from this unsung hero, and we can follow his example.
This Easter season of the Christian calendar is a great time to reflect on the power of God in our lives. When we proclaim on Easter Sunday that “Christ is Risen”, we are acknowledging that our lives will never be the same because of the resurrection. May our daily lives reflect this reality.
I look forward to seeing you Sunday!
