The Cave Of Failure

This week I enjoyed leading the discussion for our Lenten lunch book study. We discussed the meaning of the phrase from the Lord’s Prayer that states, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Adam Hamilton commented in his book that this phrase is the central concern of Jesus’ entire ministry. Through our prayers and our actions, the goal of discipleship is to make life on earth a little more like heaven every day. For most of us, this is plenty to keep us busy!

Someone recently asked about ways to support the people of Ukraine. My recommendation is to go the website of UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee On Relief. UMCOR is a trusted organization that receives the highest ratings for good stewardship of donations.

This Sunday, March 20, the scripture passages for worship are Psalm 63: 1-8 and Matthew 14: 28-32. Pastor Beth will be sharing a message entitled “The Cave Of Failure.”This is a great and intriguing title and I am looking forward to hearing Pastor Beth’s message.

I am grateful to Ms. Patti for initiating a coffee hour this past Sunday in the E&A building. She plans to continue doing this the next couple of Sundays. We had some preschool families for Sunday school and for worship Sunday, and the coffee time was a perfect setting to make them feel welcome. Please come by for a cup of coffee and conversation this Sunday at 10am.

I continue to challenge everyone to invite two people to worship at Grace either in person or online each week. Any of us can be a change agent in someone’s life!

Thanks for the continuing privilege of serving as one of your pastors. I look forward to seeing you Sunday!
