At our Church Council meeting this week, I shared the vision for the coming year of worship at Grace. The plan that our staff and music leaders have embraced is to offer two worship services on Sunday mornings at 9 am and 11 am. We will avoid labeling the services, but the 11 am service will be a more modern type of worship than the 9 am service. The 9 am service will strive to honor traditional worship expectations, including the organ, handbells, and chancel choir. From time to time, the chancel choir may also sing at the 11 am service. These changes will begin Sunday, September 12, 2021. Of course, Pastor Beth and I will continue to preach at both services.
These changes come after much prayer and planning. Our goal is to do everything we can to make worship appealing to young families. Matt Gleason will be our full-time director of youth and outreach at Grace beginning Monday July 19. Niki Hoyt works 25 hours per week at Grace as children’s ministry director. With Matt leading the music at the 11 am modern worship service, we have an opportunity to grow the demographic of young families in the coming year.
Our music staff is committed to maintaining and honoring traditional worship. I will do all that I can to support our ongoing traditional worship. However, we need your support and prayers as we launch this new modern worship opportunity. As always, I welcome your comments and ideas as we move forward.
This Sunday, July 18, the scriptures are Genesis 15: 1-6 and Galatians 3: 1-5 and 24-29. The message title is “What Should I Wear?” I depend upon your prayers and support each week. As always, I ask that you read the scriptures and pray for our congregation and community. Invite friends to worship online or in person.
I look forward to seeing you Sunday! Pastor Steve Hart
