Dear Grace Family and Friends:
I have spoken to several of our members and everyone feels a sense of relief and gratitude that Dorian has finally moved on. We will provide updates on the ways we can reach out to those in the Bahamas as soon as we know more, but for now giving to UMCOR is the best way to support relief efforts.
Pastor Beth and Gary and I walked through all the church buildings this morning. Everything looks good, praise God! Essentially, the debris on campus is similar to what we might see from a typical heavy thunderstorm this time of year.
The church office will open tomorrow with the normal hours, and the preschool will reopen Friday, as they follow the Brevard public school schedule. If you know of any congregational care needs, please let us know in the church office or contact me at (321) 368-6800.
On a personal note, Colleen and I celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary this fall. Months ago, we had planned time away for this coming weekend because the church schedule makes it harder to take time off later in the fall. We debated on whether to cancel, and I contacted our District Superintendent for advice. She has encouraged us to keep our plans in place, and she will be available should Pastor Beth or the church need anything in my absence. So, after prayerful consideration, we are keeping our plans and will leave Thursday night and return home Tuesday. I will be in the office at church tomorrow, September 5.
May God bless you as you return to “normal” life.
Pastor Steve Hart
