The Season of Lent

Dear Grace Family:

Many of you attended previous performances of the Triumphant Quartet here at Grace. Those who did attend can attest that the group offers an uplifting, encouraging and faith-filled message. They have quite a following and the crowd’s enthusiasm adds to the whole experience. I mention this because we have the Triumphant Quartet performing in the Grace sanctuary starting at 7pm tomorrow night, February 17. This is the perfect opportunity to invite friends and come enjoy a wonderful worship experience. Remember also that we offer dinner in the fellowship hall starting at 5:30pm Saturday evening. I plan to be there and hope to see many of you there.

We are now in the season of Lent, and I hope you are embracing some new habits to help you grow in faith. I personally prefer “taking on” new, healthy habits instead of giving up bad habits. It is more engaging and meaningful to take on something new, especially when the activity involves helping other people.

This Sunday, February 18, the scripture passage is Matthew 11: 28-30. Pastor Gary is working on a message entitled “Yoke For The Soul.” The passage in which Jesus says that his yoke is easy and his burden is light is a familiar one to many of us, and I find it intriguing. Jesus’ statement is in tension with the reality of human life, which is filled with obstacles, challenges, and difficulties. Come to worship Sunday to hear an inspiring message by Pastor Gary.

Finally friends, I am personally encouraged by our worship attendance this past Sunday. We had 160 people at our 9am worship service and 79 people at our 11am service. This is looking more like pre-pandemic numbers, and for that I am grateful. Let’s keep up our worship attendance and be on the lookout for new faces to welcome and get to know!

Blessings to each of you and your families!
