As we approach Mother’s Day weekend, I hope you are able to celebrate motherhood and that you can identify and celebrate the mothers who have been a blessing in your lives. Not everyone has had good experiences with their mothers, and it is important to be sensitive to this reality. Moreover, many women lament that they are not able to become mothers, and it is important that we are aware of this as well.
While we will recognize Mother’s Day in worship Sunday, the scripture and message are based upon a different topic. The scriptures for Sunday are Ezekiel 36:24-27 and Isaiah 43:15-19. I am working on a message entitled “All In Part 1: God’s Initiative.” This will be a two part series on what it means to be “All In.” I appreciate your prayer for our worship, and I understand we will have some special music that is sure to be a blessing.
This week Grace has hosted Family Promise. A single father with three children under the age of six has been with us. The children are joyful, and full of energy. So many of you have volunteered and I hope you know that each effort helps to make life a little more bearable during challenging times. This ministry is at the heart of our calling as followers of Christ. Thank you for your participation.
Finally friends, as we move toward the summer months, please remember to support Grace UMC financially. Just the ongoing facilities’ costs are significant. Our trustee chair shared Tuesday night that the Grace campus electric bill averages $77,000.00 per year. But as I always say, God will provide for us, but we only grow spiritually if each of us is generous with God’s blessings to us.
I look forward to seeing you Sunday.
