Embracing Change

Dear Grace Family:

Now that daylight savings time has arrived, spring and summer are coming soon! It is an exciting time in our community because we can anticipate the announcement of a new pastor for Grace, and that information will be available to everyone on April 14, 2024. Personally, I have tried to embrace change as part of life’s journey, and I have noticed that people who are resistant to change often struggle in a world where change is inevitable. So I encourage you to look forward to the coming changes and to pray for our new pastor and for our congregation as we move through a time of transition.

We are having our family Easter egg hunt a little earlier than usual this year. It will take place this Sunday after our 11am service. So plan to come out and enjoy the event while welcoming and encouraging families with young children. Thank you to everyone who donated and helped stuff eggs!

This Sunday, March 17, is St. Patrick’s Day. You may know that St. Patrick was British, he was kidnapped and brought to Ireland, and he died there on March 17, 461 AD. His real contribution to Ireland was bringing the Christian faith to the Irish. Much like the message of Jeremiah, St. Patrick understood that he could achieve great things in Ireland despite the fact that he did not arrive there voluntarily. Similarly, the Israelites did not get to Babylon voluntarily, yet Jeremiah encouraged them to thrive there!

This Sunday, March 17, the scripture passages are Psalm 51: 1-12 and Jeremiah 31: 31-34. I am working on a message entitled “Tattoos on the Heart.”  If you get a chance, drop me an email and tell me what you think about why tattoos have become so popular in our culture. Do you like the concept of having a tattoo, or do you have a generally negative view of tattoos? I am using tattoos as a metaphor in Sunday’s message, and I would appreciate your input.

I look forward to seeing you and preaching at Grace this Sunday!
