Getting Out of The Boat

Dear Grace Family and Friends: This has been a crazy week indeed! It started with a hurricane warning last weekend. We canceled in-person worship because of the warning. While there were no weather problems on Merritt Island, there was a car that hit a power source near the church, causing the church campus to lose power. The power was off from Monday afternoon until Thursday afternoon. We also had one of our staff members test positive for covid. He has mild symptoms so far, and we pray for his recovery.  Thankfully, each staff person with whom he had contact has been tested, and everyone tested negative. Praise God!

This Sunday, the scripture passages are Psalm 105: 1-6 and Matthew 14: 22-33. My message is entitled “Getting Out of The Boat.” The gospel passage is a familiar one that references Jesus’ walking on the water. The passage is in three of the four gospels: Matthew, Mark, and John. I challenge you to read each of the three versions of this story from Matthew, Mark, and John. Notice how the versions are different and how they are similar. Then ask God to show you what these differences might reveal about God’s heart for the disciples and for all of us.

I pray that you will make worship a priority this weekend. Whether you choose to worship online or to come to Grace in person, may God offer you encouragement through worship. My final challenge is that you invite two people to worship online with Grace this Sunday. It only requires sending a text or email or Facebook message to friends, letting them know how to find our Facebook page or to find us on Youtube or through our website.  God bless each of you and your families in the coming week!
