Jesus At His Best: Serving

Next week the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church meets in Lakeland for our annual conference. This year’s theme is “abound in hope.” Paul used this phrase in Romans 15:13, with a prayer that “……by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Notice that the ability to abound in hope is a gift of the Holy Spirit. It is not something that we create, but something that God’s spirit gives us. Therefore, this hope is available regardless of the circumstances that we face. This is very good news!

If you are in town and available tonight at 6 pm or Saturday morning from 8:30am to 11:00am, or both, we need you to help with country store. Friday evening (tonight) is setup, and all you need to do is show up at the fellowship hall by 6:00pm. Someone should be there getting started by 5:30pm. This outreach only happens four times a year, but it takes many people’s involvement to run smoothly.

This Sunday, June 4, our scripture passages are John 13: 1-5 and 12-17. Pastor Gary will be sharing a message entitled “Jesus At His Best: Serving.” This is a topic that I know will resonate with many of you, as you are active in a variety of service ministries at Grace.

Friends, the summer months can be a real challenge for church finances. If you regularly tithe 10% of your income, thank you for your faithfulness! If you do not tithe on a regular basis, I encourage you to give regularly, not only to the church but to charitable causes generally. I have seen God’s provision and blessings when we give freely and trust in Christ. This is good for us as followers of Christ. It is also critical for the proper functioning of churches, as we are 100% dependent upon voluntary contributions.

Please know that you can always contact me via email or phone/text if I or any of our staff can assist you or answer your questions. I look forward to seeing you in worship Sunday!
