I often hear people lament the absence of youth and young adults in worship. Most churches struggle with how to engage and keep young people active in the life of the church. Friends, I have good news! We have a great opportunity this Sunday, August 18, to celebrate and affirm our youth ministry here at Grace.
Our Youth Director, Matt Gleason, shares his time between Grace UMC and Cocoa Beach UMC. Matt has served both churches for over three years now, and he has done an excellent job of developing relationships with students and guiding them in their walk with Christ.
This Sunday, August 18, Matt and our youth will be sharing about the summer youth trip and about our youth ministry generally. The scripture readings for the day include Jeremiah 1: 4-8 and 1 Timothy 4: 11-12. The theme for all the services and at the Five will be “We Were Made to Thrive.”
Please plan to come to worship and to be intentional about learning the names of the young people who participate. I challenge everyone to choose at least one of our young people as the focus of our prayers during this school year. God honors the power of prayer and relationships. Imagine the power of all of the adults in our congregation praying for each of our youth and children by name!
I look forward to seeing you Sunday! Pastor Steve
