The Holy Priesthood

I hope you are enjoying our great fall weather as much as I am! The weekend forecast looks great, which is especially good news because we have our annual trunk n treat event on the Grace campus Saturday. Every year I am amazed at the huge turnout for this event. If you are free late Saturday afternoon and early evening, come out and welcome people and join the fun! We are fortunate as a church to have so many people on our campus for events like this.

The southeastern jurisdictional conference for the United Methodist Church takes place November 2-4. This is where bishops are elected, and we will have a new bishop in Florida effective January 1, 2023. Please pray for everyone involved in this process, and for the overall leadership of our United Methodist Church. Our denomination has much to offer the world at this time, and I am looking forward to God’s guidance into the future.

Please remember that because this Sunday is the fifth Sunday in October, we will recognize and receive support for our United Methodist Children’s Home. We will also have our fifth Sunday hymn sing as part of our 9am worship, so come ready to sing your favorite hymns!

This Sunday, October 30, the scripture passages are Romans 1: 16-17 and 1 Peter 2: 4-6. This is Reformation Sunday, a day when the theme of worship in many churches is the importance of the Protestant Reformation and its influence on our understanding of faith. I am preparing a message entitled “The Holy Priesthood” based upon Martin Luther’s life and the Christian doctrine of the priesthood of all believers. I appreciate your prayers and support of worship.

Have a wonderful weekend, and come to worship at Grace this Sunday. I look forward to seeing you then!
